STEP 5 : BUILDING ! |
Building ? No we haven't started yet with building of a flying replica of the G1 , but that doesn't say that there are certain persons who can sit still and do nothing. One of such persons is Mathieu van den Bosch. This gentleman has already started building a mockup cockpit section, he even started before I started my work.
Ofcourse our paths crosses eachother frequently when the subject is the cockpit. We help eachother both ways, the result : the control yoke
ALMOST THE REAL STUFF !

The goal : a realistic cockpit section

If possible original instruments are being obtained and installed.
.
Before WW2 the aviation language used per country was generally the mother tongue. Therefore the inscriptions on faces of the Dutch instruments were in Dutch. Also the units used in the Netherlands were German so that meant speed in kilometers per hour and altitude in meters. After the war the Britsch/American system was embraced hereby standarizing the instruments. Because of this, original Dutch aircaft instruments from before WW2 are very hard to find. Sometimes the only solution to is to take the right instrument and give it a new face with the right Dutch text and units. See picture from a manifold presure indicator.
